Judged by the people who shape the wine trade
The International Wine Challenge brings together internationally respected wine professionals, including Masters of Wine, Master Sommeliers, senior buyers, winemakers and leading sommeliers from across the global trade.
At each regional competition, every wine is assessed completely blind by expert judging panels within its market and regional context. Medal-winning wines are then re-tasted at the IWC in London, where Gold medal winners are judged again by senior international panels for Trophy consideration.
This two-stage process combines regional expertise with global benchmarking, ensuring results of consistency, credibility and international relevance.
For more information see judging process.
Sleeker judging. Fewer bottles. Lower shipping costs
Less wine shipped. Less cost. Same global credibility.
From 2026 the IWC moves to a single round of judging so we have a more efficient process with less cost and complexity for producers. What this means for you:
3 bottles per entry (previously 4)
Lower international shipping costs across all regions
Extra savings when shipping four or more wines together
Low & No Alcohol Wines
A newly refined category recognising the rapid growth of low and no alcohol wines.
A refined judging pathway for wines up to 5% ABV, led by a dedicated specialist panel chaired by Angela Mount. These wines are judged on their own terms, focusing on balance, flavour integrity and drinkability.
Entry Instruction: Select Low / No Alcohol in the entry form and enter at the standard IWC fee.
IWC ICON Wines
Eligibility: For flagship and premium wines only of min £60 RRP.
Judging Process: Icon Wines are judged separately by leading sommeliers and fine-wine buyers.
Recognition: Icon Wines sit outside the standard medal system and receive peer-level assessment and dedicated recognition.
Entry Instruction: Select Icon Wines in the entry form, submit one bottle, with a £25 additional judging fee.
We judge wines across a comprehensive range of categories and sub-categories. Each wine is evaluated alongside others of similar style and price point.
If you are sending wines from one of these countries, you will be automatically entered into the competition.
Entry fees have been designed to make participation as accessible as possible, with transparent pricing and regional judging that reduces shipping costs while maintaining the International Wine Challenge's globally recognised standards of excellence.

An IWC medal is more than recognition – it's a route to market.
Through the IWC Discovery Tasting, medal-winning wines are made visible to UK buyers from leading retailers, importers and on-trade groups via a secure online platform.
Buyers actively search, filter and select wines based on their own criteria - including style, region, price, medal level and category - and request samples only when there is genuine interest.
In 2025, over 2,000 samples reached buyers from
Majestic, M&S, Co-op, Tesco, The Wine Society, Hallgarten and more.
Your wine will be:
· Listed on IWC's dedicated buyer platform with medal, tasting note and producer contact details
· Re-bottled into professional 50ml tasting samples
· Dispatched only to verified buyers who request it, not mass-sent
· Presented directly to retail and on-trade decision-makers
Important!
- Discovery Tasting must be selected at the time of entry.
- Entries cannot be added after results are announced.
