Make Mine a Medal: Chile Cleans up at International Wine Challenge

Chilean winemakers demonstrate star quality at prestigious wine awards.

 
Chilean winemakers demonstrated their star quality at the 30th annual International Wine Challenge picking up a total of 17 Gold medals, 104 Silver and 192 Bronze medals.

The judges were wowed by the quality of the Chilean red wines with Gold medals being awarded to various styles including  Malbec and Syrah.  However the real talking point was the 4 Gold standard Pinot Noirs.
  • Winemakers Viña Cono Sur S.A produced two Gold medal winning Pinot Noirs. Cono Sur 20 Barrels Limited Edition and Ocio Pinot Noir
  • Eq Pinot Noir from Matetic Vineyards and Single Vineyard Pinot Noir Cahuil for Leyda completed the golden foursome, all coming from the 2011 vintage
  • Concha y Toro SA picked up a solo white wine Gold medal with their 2012 Terrunyo Riesling
  • The 30th International Wine Challenge awarded 514 Gold medals this year, making it a record for quality with wines•Entries were received from all over the world including Peru, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Lebanon and Thailand
