An excellent opportunity for producers to discover UK representation
Looking for UK representation? The IWC Discovery Tasting will provide a platform to the UK market if you have entered the IWC, but don't yet have the right importer for your wines.
The Discovery Tasting is an integral part of the International Wine Challenge. It takes place in May after the IWC tastings. This is the time of year when UK buyers are looking for new wines to stock during the summer and for the all-important winter selling season. We know all the key players, from supermarket buyers to agents, independent wine merchants to sommeliers, and invite them all.
“The Discovery Tasting offers a very convenient opportunity to taste un-imported wines in the summer – which is a great buying period for us. With the wines set up in countries it is easy to taste through a specific wine category quickly and efficiently. Over the last 3 years we have often followed up on tastings at the show as we are confident that the wines in the Discovery Tastings don’t yet have an importer and are clearly keen to work in the UK as they are investing in the show.”
Sarah Knowles, Wine Category Manager, Amathus Drinks PLC “ The IWC Discovery Tasting gave 35 of our Archangel customers a unique opportunity to choose the IWC Bronze medal winning Anticaia Salice Salentino 2009 as their top pick. The wine was put on our nakedwines.com MarketPlace platform and 1470 bottles sold out straight away”
Eamon FitzGerald, Wine Development Manager, Naked Wines
New for 2012This year the IWC have secured an exclusive Discovery Tasting Zone at the London International Wine Fair Wine entered into the tasting will be showcased to over 2,000 buyers from the UK for the full 3 days of the fair on 22nd, 23rd and 24th May at the same time the IWC results are announced.
Taking place at ExCeL London from 22-24 May 2012, the London International Wine Fair (LIWF) is organised by Brintex, one of the largest independent exhibition and conference organising companies in the UK.
The LIWF has established itself as a major business platform and the most professional annual trade event in the international calendar. The Fair works on many levels; from an educational standpoint, to being probably the best networking platform in the industry. However it's the actual business that gets done at the Fair that makes it stand out. The LIWF continues to highlight the quality and diversity of the wine sector in association with key brands, large and small producers, importers and distributors.
Target buyersThe Discovery Tasting provides buyers with the opportunity to taste, at their leisure, without interruption, any style of wine from anywhere in the world that is looking for an importer and has entered the IWC. Wines are grouped by country, enabling tasters to browse through any section in which they're looking to fill gaps on their shelves. Wines are split into 3 sections depending on where they are seeking buyers from; On Trade - High Street & Supermarkets, On Trade - Independent merchants and Off-Trade. Wines are then grouped by country and style. This enables buyers to taste in a time efficient way and only select the wines that are available to them.
IWC staff will be on hand to open bottles and provide producer contact details.
The IWC Discovery Tasting costs £43.00 (+ VAT where applicable) per wine entered, in addition to your standard IWC entry fee. |
